Arcane is a story of two cities which were once one but are now divided. Inequality and corruption runs rampant between the dividing lines of Piltover and it's Undercity, Zaun. Piltover flourishes with money and technology, while the people of Zaun have no representation in government and live fighting for their lives in a dog-eat-dog slum where drug lords rule the streets. Tensions between the two cities only escalate when Piltover and Zaun both develop new technologies. The show is explicitly concerned with what it means to be stuck in a cycle of violence and the various ways violence becomes our undoing. |

Viktor is coming from post S2, which if you've seen the show, without any spoilers, leaves me in a bit of a weird spot with regards to what he looks like. For the sake of simplicity, we're just putting him in a brand new body and having done with it. Don't question it.
His hair is long around his face and he has strange, iridescent white-and-gold patterned markings all over his body. In some parts they're raised, and in other parts they're flat with his flesh, like scars. They will shine like pearl or jewellery when exposed to direct light, so it shouldn't be too hard to find him in a crowd.

Viktor is a driven and innovative scientist with an altruistic passion. Due to physical disability, Viktor's childhood was spent isolated and separate from other children. As such, he grew up strongly introverted. He is not shy, but being terrifically intelligent and growing up in a slum tends to leave one rather cynical about the world, so he prefers his own company to that of others.
As a young man, Viktor's genius was recognised by the Dean of Piltover's prestigious Academy, and he was brought into the Academy as the Dean's assistant. When he sees the chance to work on technology that will change history and improve lives, he seizes it. He works for several years on developing a new energy technology called Hextech with his partner in science Jayce Talis. For a while, everything seems to be going well. But their work eventually becomes complicated upon discovering that Viktor is terminally ill. Realising that he doesn't have very long left to live, Viktor throws caution to the wind and begins experimenting with increasingly dangerous solutions in the hopes of finding a cure.
Viktor is full of contradictions-- both deeply cynical and yet full of idealism about saving the world. He dislikes attention and shrinks away from the spotlight, and yet he is concerned with leaving his mark on history. He has a strong sense of morality and ethics when it comes to the applications of science, but is first in line to take dangerous risks if he thinks the only person at risk is himself. Nevertheless, he is fundamentally good hearted. Just cranky. |

This version of Viktor does not currently have any abilities and seems to be a completely normal human, strange markings aside. Maybe that will change that in the future, but the abilities Viktor gains in season 2 are too vague and too OP (ie there's no clear definition of what he can/can't do) for me to be really comfortable bringing them into RP for now. So I've just done away with them for the time being. If we want to revisit that later, we can! |
